9 federations across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh formed over 15 years – now creating ‘future of federations’
SRIJAN has worked intensively on the SHG-Federations for over 15 years and formed 9 federations across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. While these federations are socio-political platforms for the empowerment of women, they are also financial inclusion and livelihood action forum for the marginalised too. Federations exude power of women collectives to address socio-economic inequalities, gender imbalances, and government accountability to increase agency among the vulnerable sections of the society, especially women. Many of SRIJAN promoted federations have reached to a certain stage in the 7-stage cycle of federations and in 2018, SRIJAN began a dialog with the federations on their sustainability. It is a mix of workshops, exposures to see the best practices and re-imagine the idea of federations. We gather support from various CSO partners, academicians and action-researchers to strengthen our efforts to visualise and create ‘future of federations’.
