Visit of Annupur District Collector Mr. Chandramohan Thakur, IAS to Kotma, Annupur District, MP
Anuppur District Collector Mr. Chandramohan Thakur, IAS visited the Fish Cage Culture Unit (24 cage unit) and Nano Orchard plots in Chohri village of Kotma block, Anuppur Madhya Pradesh.
He interacted with Pavni Adiwasi Matsya Palan Samuh and congratulated them on their unique work of fish culture. While understanding the income generation prospects of fish farming by using cage culture method, SHG members shared that they will be able to produce approx 2.5 tonnes of fish in a year by adopting cage culture which will give them an earning of approx 2.5 lac in one-year. Mr Thakur suggested to develop a system of seed production so that the SHG is able to market fish throughout the year.
Mr Thakur was very happy to see the scenic beauty of the location and proposed a plan to develop it into a tourist spot with facilities of sitting,boating, and refreshment which will give some new income opportunities to SHG families.
He also visited the nano orchard plots developed by SRIJAN and was impressed with the intensive plantation of Pomegranate, Mango and Guava with inter-cropping of tomato. He was also impressed with the drip system installed in the orchard to conserve and efficient use of water for the family and reducing their drudgery
Mr. Thakur congratulated SRIJAN for their work with the resource poor community and developing a model which is helping the community and giving them a good source of earning he also shared that convergence with relevant government schemes will be done and the district administration will provide all support.
