Workshop on “Revival of Traditional Water Bodies in the Bundelkhand region, MP”. Chaired by Ms. Gauri Singh (ACS, Department of Panchayat and Rural Development), and presided by Mr. R. Parasuram (Director General, AIGGPA).

With an objective to amplify the impact through a strong collaboration with Government and facilitative partnership with the district administrations and the Panchayati Raj Institutions a workshop was organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis (AIGGPA), Bhopal on 19th July at Orchha. This one day event tried to explore the avenues for scaling up the initiatives of the Tank restoration. The workshop was chaired by Ms Gauri Singh (ACS, Department of Panchayat and Rural Development), and was presided by Mr. R. Parasuram (Director General AIGGPA). Mr. A.K Sharma (Divisional commissioner, Sagar), Ms. Reshma Anand (CEO, Hindustan Unilever Foundation), Mr. Mohit Bundas (District Collector, Chhatarpur). Mr. Akshay Singh (District Collector, Niwari), Mr. Jacob John (General Manager Programmes, Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives), CEOs, Zila Panchayat of all districts falling into Sagar Division participated and shared their words of wisdom. This one-day workshop deliberated upon and paved a way forward for inter - departmental coordination to undertake the restoration of the traditional water bodies at a scale. Representatives of CSOs and the CSR agencies also participated in the workshop. The workshop also highlighted the important aspects of water governance and its management, strengthening of Tank Management Committees, water budgeting with active community engagement, developing community cadre which will work both on supply and demand side management. Catchment area treatment and making community resilient about climate change, putting drought proofing system and processes at place and resetting cropping system of rain fed areas, were some of the important issues that were discussed.
