‘Renovation of traditional ‘Chandela Tanks’ helping farmers at Bundelkhand in all dimensions’

SRIJAN in collaboration with community and support from Hindustan Unilever Foundation (HUF) worked on renovation of traditional water harvesting structure in Bundelkhand called ‘Chandela Tanks’. The efforts started with renovation of such nine tanks in villages of Jatara and Palera blocks of Bundelkhand which increased additional water retention capacity of 50 TCM. This intervention will help farmers in all dimensions i.e. water availability for irrigation of Rabi Crops and the use of excavated silts at farmers field will lead to increase in productivity as well as soil conditions.
